The Best Gift From Humble Grape

Chisolana Asolo Prosecco

If you haven't already guessed, I'm rather partial to a nice glass of prosecco. I often find it more agreeable than champagne (although I'd never turn that down at events and soirees), and no - I don't find prosecco is sweeter. I'm a dry wine kinda girl, and I love prosecco's crisp sparkles. When I decided to document my adventures in London, which may or may not be prosecco-fuelled at times, there was only one name I could give to this blog. One of the world's biggest bloggers tried to advise me against it as 'people might think the blog was about alcohol', but I stuck to my guns and most people I meet in the blogosphere say (to my face) that they love the name.

Another huge bonus has been companies offering me bottles of prosecco. Can you imagine my delight with these occasional emails asking me if I'd like a bottle from their vineyard or shop? Umm... hells yeah! Maybe I'll get to try every single brand in the world - hashtag prosecco goals. The lovely folks at Humble Grape sent me a bottle of Ghisolana Over 100 Extra Dry Asolo Superiore, bottled in 2012 in Veneto, Italy. I'm reliably informed that the grapes have been handpicked from a vineyard that's stood in the Asola Superiore region for over a hundred years, and has been fermented without adding sulphur. The PR info said that it had toasty lemon meringue overtones, so I couldn't wait to try a prosecco that doubles up as dessert. I'm not sure if it was pie I got exactly, but there were sumptuous peach, pear and apple flavours.

Not only is this in a very swishy jet black and silver bottle, but it's a crisp, fizzy delight. I LOVED it! This would make an ideal gift for a stylish, prosecco loving person. And by that, I mean I would gift it to myself. As well as selling such Italian delights, Humble Grape also do events and tastings - it's well worth checking them out if you like all things grapey and boozy. And if prosecco is your thing, then you are my new best friend.
