Brick Lane
Yesterday I posted about my visit to London's first cat cafe, a fun experience for those who love cats, tea and cake. It's in the Brick Lane area of Bethnal Green, just around the corner from Shoreditch, which if you've followed my blog you will know I frequent a fair bit.... Before I went to play with cute cats I had a wander round the area and loved the quirky shops and cafes. If you're bored of high street shopping, this is a fab part of town with non-expensive boutiques and uber-friendly shopkeepers. They even have a 24-hour bagel shop for gaad's sake!
I loved the handmade approach to advertising at this coffee shop, plus the immense quote from Working Girl - "Can I get you coffee? Tea? Me?"
This shop may be a bit big-headed, but they are keeping it real. It DID rock! I love a treasure-trove kinda store.
Sooo much nice food to be seen everywhere, not just coffee and bagels! This seemed to be the area for handmade chocolates as we saw (and smelt) several places to get gorgeous cocoa creations.
If you're looking for homewares, both antiques and contemporary offerings are to be found.
The area has many colourful wall murials of course, the East End is THE place to see exciting street art.
And of course, a new addition to this area of cute, eccentric shops and eateries - it's the cat cafe!
If you're in the area, take a look see! Of course Brick Lane is famous for its curry houses, but it was too early for curry when I went. If you have any curry recommendations let me know on Twitter.
