Things To Do In London For Valentine's Day

Romantic Afternoon Tea

Heart shaped scones!! Sorry, got distracted there by the sight of a mouthwatering romantic afternoon tea at The Ampersand Hotel. Whether you're romancing it right up this weekend with the love or your life, or single and determined to have fun in spite of all the sickeningly loved-up couples around you - here's a few suggestions to inspire you. The Ampersand's Valentine's tea is served from the 7th February to the 15th and costs £45 with champagne, £32.50 without. As well as those scones, you'll get rose flavoured mousse and heart shaped macaroons. Why not go all out and stay the night there? Throughout the Valentine's period guests can have romantic messages or their names printed onto personalised pillows. Awww! Don't forget to have dinner in their amazing Wine Room too.

If it's drinks you're after head to Soho's legendary restaurant, Kettner's (it was Oscar Wilde's fave!). The King of Soho, super premium gin distilled in the heart of London, is inviting lovebirds and singles to Kettner's to try one of two exclusive cocktails: an Old Soho Fox, or a Lost My Cherry with a sunken cherry and pink sugar rim for a sherbet aftertaste. Check website for details.

If you're after some loved-up culture, and would prefer it with added lols, you can't go wrong with watching Shakespeare in Love at the Noel Coward Theatre - surely the most romantic comedy of errors going. Spectacular sets, brilliant performances, and Shakespeare himself working out what love means; this show has it all.

Finally, why not ditch the romance altogether on Valentine's Day and focus on blood, crime and 'oribble murder instead? The Museum of London is offering you the chance to sleep with Sherlock Holmes, yes really. From 7.30pm on the 14th Feb until 9.30am the next morning you'll have a three-course dinner, listen to ghost stories, hear the experts talk about Sherlock, take part in an interactive mystery-solving performance, go through a blood spatter forensic analysis, and watch a Sherlock movie marathon before catching some Zzz's. In the morning you'll be served a full English breakfast - yay for a night at the museum! Tickets from £175.
