Champagne Tasting at Notes

Champagne Tasting at Notes

There's only one thing that's almost as good to drink as prosecco. And that's its French sister, champagne. Despite several attempts at becoming a more sophisticated sparkling wine connoisseur, I still don't know my mousse from my froth - or is that the same thing? I needed to get schooled in my favourite way to drink wine; white and full of bubbles. I couldn't believe it when I heard that coffee and wine bar Notes was offering a series of champagne tastings for absolutely zero bucks!

Notes has several branches throughout the City and West End, and their Moorgate branch is a roomy, high-ceilinged space where fine coffees are served by day, fine wines by night (or vice versa if you prefer), as well as delicious cheese boards and other yummy offerings. Notes have arranged for Devaux to come in and talk people through four of their champagnes. As well as being fun and informative - you get to have FOUR glasses of champagne for FREE! I still haven't remembered all the finer points of champagne tasting (though it did make sense before the second or third glass...hic!), but I can confirm that Devaux is delicious!

I had such a fun night with Angela from The Awkward Blog, both doing our best "we're totally sober" faces as the lovely Devaux man asked us what we thought of their vintage wine. I was also over the moon to meet the lovely Rosie from A Little Lusciousness, a sumptious food blog and supper club. Notes have two more tastings on the 18th and 25th of November at 6.30pm. Although they're free you'll need to email to reserve your place - events@notes-uk.co.uk

Free (excellent quality) champagne in the city? What's not to like?!
