Essential Autumn Eye Palettes

 Autumn is all about neutral eyes - muted plums, soft mauves, caramels and chocolate browns. Who am I kidding, that's pretty much my all-year round eye look. Which is why I love the makeup releases around this time of year, you can never have enough neutral and warm palettes (yes, you can says my bank manager). Luckily, these beauties were kindly gifted to me, and even more luckily, they represent high end, mid-range and drugstore options. The Urban Decay Naked Heat palette (top right) was actually a summer 2017 release, and I think they missed a trick there. I mean, it was a hit anyway, as all their Naked palettes are, but imagine if they'd packaged those same shades in an autumnal way with leaves or something, and called it the Pumpkin Spice palette? It would have send the internet even crazier. Never under-estimate how much people on social media love Fall.  I've got a separate post focusing on Naked Heat coming soon, but here's some swatches of the other two. Marc Jacobs' Scandalust (above) is one of six palettes they recently released, all of them to rave reviews. Having tried Scandalust I'm mighty keen to get some more, these shadows are intensely creamy and pigmented, and much, much better quality then their previous Christmas palettes have been (though not as good value price-wise). These palettes are £39 each, not bad you think, but you get quite tiny pans. The shades That's Why and At The Office are two of the most stunning mattes I have EVER tried, both in texture and shade. I need back-ups of these immediately! Hot Pants, They Call Her, and Cause A Fuss are the usual champagne-y copper-y shimmer shades we all love, but I'm not sure I'd have much use for muddy purple Little Miss, or goth-tactic Scandalous. We'll see.  The Nyx Full Throttle quad (above) is a more budget-friendly £9, and you can see the shades are not too dissimilar from Scandalust. Of course they're not as pigmented, and feel much drier. The top shade has very chunky glitter, so expect fall out from that and do your eyes before your foundation. The Urban Decay Naked Heat is the (slightly) priciest at £39.50, but of course has more shades and is better value for money. You can rarely, if ever, fault the quality of their Naked palettes, and this one has been in constant use since autumn descended. By far the most exciting shade discoveries for me are those two mattes I mentioned in Scandalust - my god, if you use these colours a lot, you need them in your life.
