Bourjois Summer Range

Bourjois Summer Range

I was invited to the Bourjois summer blogger event and couldn't go. To say I was heartbroken was an understatement - it sounded like the party of the year, and seeing everyone's photos from the rooftop of the Capital Radio building made me feel wretched. The lovely people at Bourjois were so nice to send me the goody bag from the event, which included some lovely little bits, and a full set of their Summer 2014 range. I missed the party, but by god I won't miss out on some A.Grade contouring this season!

Being rather pale of face, bronzer is not usually a friend of mine. But I am very curious to try this contouring marlarkey, which has been around since woman (and sometimes man) first put paint to face to look real pretty, but has only come into prominence since Kim Kardashian Instagrammed her mid-contoured mug and everyone (who wasn't a makeup artist) gasped with fear and confusion. What were those yellow and brown lines all over her?! What's happening?!! As you can see from the diagram above, bronzer and highlighter used in the right places can make your features look thinner and give your face some anti-ageing and beautifying definition. I was stoked to see the collection included two bronzers (one with a highlighter), that came in matte and gold (shimmery). Not only are these the tools of the moment, but they are packaged to look like chocolate bars and contain actual sunshine*, what's not to like? To complete the look: a very sexy gold-bronze cream blusher in Sun 05.

* probably not real sunshine.

As a fan of coloured eyeliner I wooped at seeing the waterproof neons, as well as the metallics. Just look at that royal blue! HOW pigmented?! I'm loving that turquoise too. Can't say I've worn neon pink eyeliner before, but I'm sure it will go down a storm on my next venture to Shoreditch. And the dark copper and ultra black are always very welcome for making the eyes pop. These glide on like a dream and stay put, they look like liquid liners. Bourjois helpfully included a wearing suggestion - put them in your hair and style it out with a smile that says - hey, I don't care what you think - I'm gonna party like it's 1985. Thanks Bourjois for this gorgeous collection, makes me feel so summery and look so contoured and sunkissed!
