Pinned It! Made It!

Pinned It! Made It!

This week I felt like crafting it right up, so I headed to Shoreditch for a Pinned It! Made It! Pinterest party. This is a fabulous company run by Plum Bell and Sarah Waldie that gets people making and re-creating the ideas they've seen on Pinterest. You can hire them for all kinds of events and soirees; sitting with good company, delicious cocktails and learning how to make pretty things makes for a really fun party.

At this version of Pinned it! Made it! We were making statement necklaces with the lovely Lottie Smith of jewellery design blog Lotts and Lots. Lottie is not only the nicest person ever, but also darn inspiring as she explained to us how simple it is to start designing and making your own jewellery. We watched a demo before we got to choose from a tempting range of brightly coloured beads and baubles. This was the most stressful bit, no one wanted to make bad bead choices. Then we headed off to our tables to get cracking, and Lottie popped over now and then and politely made all my rubbish crafting better.

By the way, Breton Stripes are so hot in Shoreditch right now.

We had such a good evening! Maybe it was the cocktails, and maybe it was the hilarity of trying to make our necklaces look halfway as good as Lottie's, but we laughed so much it hurt. Everyone got to leave with their finished work, some way better than others....

Check out how well event designers Hattie and Flora (above) did! Good work ladies!

I loved how everyone put their own spin on their work, it was creativity central.

I loved Elena's neon pink beauty (above), and can we just take a minute to look at her awesome horse jumper! Rachel of Girl and the Party (below) went for some beautiful grey and purple tones.

I ballsed mine right up by making the gaps between the rows of beads too wide. Gah! You can see my poor effort below. I was also spectacularly bad at the fiddly pliers and wires action required. I realised quickly that a sideline as a supreme jewellery maker is now not likely to be on the cards, but I had a great time, and I recommend you keep an eye on what Pinned It! Made It! get up to next. I'll also be heading over to Lotts and Lots for some jewellery making tutorials. God dammit I need them!
