Eve Lom Facial at Selfridges

I was delighted to be offered a complimentary facial at the Eve Lom counter in Selfridges. Luckily, you don't have to sit out on the shop floor for the facial (I marvel at the women brave enough to have face packs slapped on, or have threading done whilst sitting out where everyone is shopping). You are taken to a proper beauty room for the full hour-long treatment. This is a deeply relaxing experience, and definitely unique because your pores are opened up with hot wax instead of steam.I hate steam in facials with a passion, it always makes me feel like I can't breathe. I wasn't exactly psyched about having hot wax spread over my face either, especially seven layers of it! But the process was surprisingly pleasant. The wax is only momentarily hot, but cools quickly and sets as the next layer is applied. When it's peeled off (this must be so satisfying for the therapist!), your pores are open and ready for extractions. I usually hate this bit as well, but this was the first facial I'd ever had where my eyes weren't watering with pain. There's lots of massage, and attention to the arms and decolletage. My skin was glowing, even the next day. This is a fantastic facial with visible results. The cost is usually £85, and can sometimes be offset against Eve Lom purchases - ask at their beauty counter.
