The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time

I really liked the novel by Mark Haddon on which this play is based, about an awkward, autistic fifteen year old boy who can barely make eye contact with people who takes it upon himself to solve the mystery of his neighbour's murdered dog. The every day things that most people take for granted, such as having conversations or buying things in a shop, become an ordeal for our hero, Christopher.  Many things in life are unpredictable and hard to understand, so you can imagine how confused a boy who can't fully register human emotions must be. Whilst the play isn't as amusing as the novel, and doesn't have the same emotional climax, it's a great experience - clever set design and physical theatre aplenty.

I don't usually take photos during a production, but there was a little extra bit at the end after the curtain call when it was okay to snap away. There's also some other little surprises, like cute animals, and a possible prize if you're sitting in a prime numbered seat (Christopher has a thing about numbers). One of the cast is Lady Mary from Downton's sister, fact fans, and I couldn't stop looking at her and thinking she looks more like Helen Baxendale.
